Southwest Airlines pilot convicted of lewd behavior in cockpit
A former Southwest Airlines pilot was convicted after admitting to indecent exposure in the cockpit. Michael Haak, 60, was sentenced to one year of probation after a guilty plea of committing a lewd, indecent, or obscene act during a flight.
Once the plane reached cruising altitude the captain stripped off and ‘viewed pornographic media on a laptop’ while he ‘engaged in inappropriate conduct’ with a female co-pilot.
The judge also ordered Haak to pay a fine of $5,000.
Haak took voluntary separation due to the pandemic and Southwest Airlines said it only found about the incident after he left the company.
