Southwest plane hit by gunfire at Texas airport
A Southwest plane taxiing on the tarmac was struck by gunfire at Dallas Love Field Airport.
Bullets pierced the fuselage beneath the cockpit a Southwest spokesperson said.
It happened as the plane full of passengers was preparing to take off.
“A bullet apparently struck the right side of the aircraft under the flight deck,” the airline said.
No one was hurt and the plane returned to the gate to deplane the passengers.
The runway was also temporarily closed.
Local police and the FAA confirmed the incident but no details about where the gunfire came from have been disclosed.
It comes days after two US planes were struck by gunfire in Haiti.
The FAA has issued a 30-day ban on flying to Haiti.
