Spain hints holidaymakers without Covid pass will be allowed ‘within days’
Spain’s Tourism Minister Maria Reyes Maroto made a surprising announcement, offering hope to unvaccinated Brits.
Travellers from outside the EU, including the UK without a Covid pass could be allowed to enter Spain ‘within days’.
Maroto made the comment during a radio interview.
“It’s going to be a matter of days before we eliminate a restriction that could be discouraging tourists from outside the European Union from visiting us.”
“We are going to stop demanding the Covid certificate and allow people to enter with a negative Covid test,” the minister said.
Unvaccinated Brits will need to produce a negative Covid test to enter.
“The world sees us as a safe destination and 92% of the Spanish population is vaccinated,” she added
“Tourism is recovering here at rates that would have been difficult to imagine in January.”
It was a surprise as the ban on unvaccinated travellers was only recently extended until at least June 15.
