Spain holiday boost as Covid curbs relaxed
Spain has finally agreed to permit entry for unvaccinated travellers from non-EU countries.
The Ministry of the Interior directive offers a timely boost for UK holidaymakers for the summer.
The easing of Covid entry rules requires unvaccinated adult travellers to produce a negative Covid test.
PCR tests must be done within 72 hours prior to departure.
Until last weekend, UK travellers were only able to enter with a valid vaccine certificate or proof of recovery.
“This is excellent news for the tourism sector, which facilitates the arrival of tourists from outside the EU with a view to guaranteeing safe journeys during the high season,” Tourism Minister Reyes Maroto said.
It signals a ‘new phase of the pandemic’
“This summer is expected to be the busiest holiday season since the start of the pandemic, with 70% of families saying they have a holiday abroad booked this year.” ABTA said.
In 2019, Spain welcomed 18 million air arrivals from the UK.
