SpiceJet pilot infected with coronavirus
A SpiceJet pilot has tested positive for the covid-19 virus.
The first officer has not operated any international flights since before March and last piloted a domestic flight on March 21.
"Since then he has quarantined himself at home," an airline spokesperson said.
"All measures are being taken to provide appropriate medical care to him. The safety of our passengers and employees is our topmost priority."
As a precautionary measure all airline colleagues who had been in direct contact with him have been ordered to self-quarantine at home.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India has risen to nearly 1,000, including 48 foreigners.
So far the ministry of health and family welfare has reported 25 deaths.
