SpiceJet under investigation over severe turbulence incident
An investigation is underway probing severe turbulence incident which injured several passengers. Regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation is scrutinising what happened on the SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Durgapur.
Twelve passengers and three crew members were hospitalised, with two in a critical condition. The plane has been grounded and flight crew derostered while the investigation is carried out.
“The matter is being dealt with utmost seriousness,” Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia tweeted. Local media reports say the autopilot function failed mid-flight leading to the turbulence.
