Spirit cancels dozens of flights due to emergency aircraft inspections
Budget carrier Spirit Airlines has abruptly cancelled dozens of flights, citing the need to put aircraft through inspections.
As of early Friday, it affects about 100 flights with almost half at Orlando International.
Planes have to go through ‘necessary inspections.’
The airline says its flight schedule could be impacted for the next few days.
“We’ve cancelled a portion of our scheduled flights to perform a necessary inspection of a small section of our aircraft,” Spirit said.
It involves 25 planes.
“While this action is being taken out of an abundance of caution, the impact to our network is expected to last several days as we complete the inspections.”
“We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to take care of affected guests.”
Booked passengers will be informed of any cancellations by email.
The airline hasn’t said what the issue is about.
