Spirit sold for $111 million
Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon has revealed his government sold off the Spirit of Tasmania III for $111 million.
Mr Lennon today told parliament the ferry was sold to Mediterranean operator Corsica Ferries for 65 million euros ($111 million).
The ferry that plied the Sydney-to-Devonport route was on the market for less than a month after Mr Lennon’s June 5 announcement that his government would ditch the loss-making service and sell the vessel.
“This is a very good price for the ship,” he said today.
