St Lucia chosen as home port for Britannia
The new P&O Cruises ship Britannia is to sail from St Lucia for the first time as part of an extended Caribbean fly-cruise programme for 2016/17.
Seven and 14-night winter-sun itineraries go on sale today..
The family-friendly ship will operate 28 Caribbean cruises and sets sail from the new Caribbean port for the first time on November 12, 2016 on a seven-night cruise calling at Dominica, Antigua, St Maarten and Barbados.
P&O Cruises marketing director Christopher Edgington said: "Introducing new itineraries which all depart or return St Lucia will offer a new dimension to our Caribbean cruises.
"St Lucia is a popular destination with passengers and no other cruise line has it as a home port, so we are looking to make the most of this by offering an exciting range of shore excursions to maximise the time there."
Atlyn Forde, Director of Marketing – UK and Europe for St Lucia added "We are delighted that P&O has chosen Castries as a home port as this is something Saint Lucia Tourist Board has been working towards achieving. Saint Lucia has always been a great cruise stop destination, but a home port status will offer visitors the added benefit of immersing themselves into the destination and experiencing more of Saint Lucia’s great people, food, adventure, arts and culture. We look forward to the positive impact it will bring to the islanders."
