Staging Connections & Telstra beams an executive via live hologram
Event services business, Staging Connections’ helped to create an industry first when a mobile three dimensional image of Telstra Chief Technology Officer, Dr Hugh Bradlow, was beamed from Melbourne to Adelaide to deliver a live business presentation over Telstra’s network.
Staging Connections in collaboration with Telstra, Bytecraft Entertainment and in partnership with Musion Australia, combined their respective experience and know-how to deliver this new generation video conferencing.

The live hologram was created using a video camera which filmed Dr Bradlow in Melbourne. The signal was transmitted over Telstra’s network and projected using Staging Connections’ latest Christie HD projection system and a Musion Eyeliner optical projection system, to create a holographic image for the audience in Adelaide.
Dr Bradlow could see who he was talking to in Adelaide as Staging Connections beamed his hologram onto a 12x4m Musion foil using an Encore, 3 projector blend. Bytecraft Entertainment created the truss structure for the mounted projectors. The entire Telepresence experience allowed real time interaction and provided the look and feel of Dr Bradlow being in the same room as the audience.
There is no doubt that this new type of display technology is an exciting step forward in terms of the future of video conferencing as it will allow real time interaction and provide a richness and depth to the entire communication process.
Christian Tuerk – Director of Marketing, Telstra Enterprise & Government said: “Staging Connections has been a terrific partner for Telstra and helped to make this historic event of a LIVE hologram a huge success with our customers. We appreciate the contribution of Candace McPherson and her team who have worked with us to master the technical and production challenges of this innovationâ€.
