Stansted is first airport to surpass pre-pandemic traffic
London Stansted is the first major UK airport to achieve a full post-pandemic recovery.
July was the third busiest month in its history and overtook July 2019 for passenger traffic.
Total passenger numbers reached 2.81m, which is just above July 2019.
It handled an average of 90,000 passengers per day durng July.
Gareth Powell, London Stansted MD said: “This was our busiest July ever, and the third busiest month on record at London Stansted.”
The busiest day was the final day of last month with 96,500 passengers.
It was also the busiest day so far in 2023.
Stansted says top holiday destinations are Spain, Italy and Turkey.
