Star unveils largest US-flagged ship
Star Cruises Ltd. christened the Pride of Hawaii, the largest US-flagged passenger ship ever built.
The ship will join the NCL America Fleet.
The ship is the third in a series of US-flagged cruise ships built for the Hawaii market. The Pride of Hawaii was built after the US congress passed legislation for cruise ships in 2003.
The Pride, which has 93,000 gross tons and carries 2,400 passengers, cost over a half a billion dollars.
The ship includes two luxurious garden villas with their own private gardens and sun decks. There are also ten Courtyard Villas sharing a private courtyard, pool and sundeck.
The ship is “by far, the largest, most luxurious and most expensive US-flagged passenger ever built,” according to Star Cruises.
Star Cruises is the third largest cruise operator in the world with a combined fleet of 22 ships.
