Starwood appoints new Latin American VPs
Global hospitality group Starwood Hotels & Resorts has beefed up its Latin America senior management team in order to support one of its fastest growing markets.
Jean-Marc Janod has been appointed vice-president of operations for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
In addition Starwood has named Ricardo Calo vice-president of operations for South America, an entirely new position.
Both will be part of Starwood’s Latin America senior leadership team and report to Jorge Giannattasio, regional chief of operations.
Janod has been at Starwood for more than 20 years and has served at major Starwood hotels in the region in key operational roles.
Most recently he was General Manager of Sheraton Mexico City Maria Isabel Hotel.
Calo has had a decade-long career with the company, and moves into this new position after serving as managing director of operations for Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
"We are aggressively expanding our portfolio in dynamic markets throughout Latin America and expect to reach 150 hotels in the region by 2020," said Jorge Giannattasio.
Jean-Marc and Ricardo will lead this charge along with a seasoned leadership team across the region, allowing us to deliver on the promise of providing guests with world-class hotels in Latin America."
