Starwood plans third hotel in Ireland

Starwood Hotels & Resorts is to manage a luxury golf and spa property in Ireland.

Killeen Castle in Dunsany, County Meath, will be a Luxury Collection hotel when it opens in 2009 with 179 rooms.

The property, 40 kms north of Dublin, will feature a 1,000 metre health club and spa and an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course.

Starwood opened the Sheraton Fota Island Gold Resort & Spa in Cork in May, following the Westin Dublin which opned in 2001.

The company’s EMEA president Roeland Vos said: “This hotel introduces a third Starwood hotel brand to Ireland and increases Starwood’s commitment to Ireland while further expanding on the golf and spa resorts we can offer our guests around the world.”
