STB suspends another Singapore travel agency
Another Singapore travel agent has had its wings clipped by the Singapore Tourism Board.
Asian Travels Network has been barred from accepting any new travel bookings until further notice.
That means it is effectively suspended from doing business but must fulfil all existing bookings made by clients.
The STB said it failed to submit its audited statement of accounts within six months after the end of its financial year.
This is a must for registered agencies under the Travel Agents Regulations.
STB said failing to submit accounts in a timely fashion raises red flags over a business’ ability to meet the minimum financial requirements required under the Regulations.
"STB takes a serious view against errant travel agents, and will not hesitate to take necessary actions to protect the reputation of Singapore’s travel industry," the STB said.
The public can check to see which Singapore travel agencies are licensed by visiting the STB’s Travel Related Users’ System website.
