STENA EXPRESS FAST FERRY SERVICE RETURNS

Sunday, 03 Aug, 2004 0

THE Stena Express fast ferry service made a welcome return on the Fishguard to Rosslare route last Friday (July 30). The fast craft, which received a dramatic makeover as part of an overall £7 MILLION investment earlier this year, had been in dry dock in Liverpool for the past month undergoing essential maintenance work. Stena Line Route Director Vic Goodwin is delighted to have the Stena Express, which offers the fastest crossing from Wales to Rosslare, back in action. “We were extremely disappointed that we had to take the Stena Express out of service for a while to replace one of the vessel’s four engines,” said Vic. “We are delighted to have her back on the route. The Stena Express is the only fast ferry operating from the South East of Ireland to Wales and plays an important part in helping us maintain and strengthen Stena Line’s position as market leader on the Irish Sea,” he added. To mark its return, Stena Line has announced a summer online offer which allows passengers to enjoy a five-day return on the Stena Express from just £179*, based on a car and two travelling, with kids costing just £1 extra each way. Agents can book online at www.stenalineagent.com, via Viewdata or by calling the Stena Line trade hotline on 0870 241 2417. The Stena Express, which carries 670 passengers and 148 cars, will operate until 26 September in tandem with the Stena Europe Superferry which runs all year round on the Rosslare to Fishguard route. On board facilities include an exclusive Stena Plus lounge, Food City restaurant and Metropolitan Bar as well as video games and shopping. Stena Line is the market leading ferry company on the Irish Sea with the biggest fleet and the widest choice of routes for people travelling to Ireland. The company carries more than three million passengers between Britain and Ireland each year, more than its rival ferry operators combined. * Price based on 5 day return web fares, Tue-Thur selected sailings. £10 service fee for phone bookings. A fuel surcharge of £2 per person return applies (excludes infants 0-3 yrs). MEDIA ENQUIRIES: For further information please contact Eamonn Hewitt of Stena Line on 00 353 1 2047617 or Michael Rafferty of GCAS Public Relations on 0161 60 60 274.
