British Airways flights to Brussels have been cancelled today due to industrial action at the airport.
BA says five flights into the city from Heathrow have been affected. The first flight slated to fly is at 8.15pm tonight.
Other airlines’ flights into and out of the Belgium capital will also be affected by the walk out by loading staff and baggage handlers.
The surprise action is in response to the airport’s decision to replace current baggage and freight handler Aviapartner with Swissport from November 1.
An airport spokesman said about one in three or one in four flights would be cancelled today.
Aviapartner provides services for around 40 airlines including Easyjet, United, BA and Air France KLM.
The strike is due to last until 4pm today.
