Suitcase falls 12,000 from plane
The Civil Aviation Authority has launched an investigation after a suitcase reportedly fell from a commercial flight at an altitude of 12,000 feet.
According to The Scotsman website, the suitcase fell from the baggage pos of an Eastern Airways plane on 18 August, as it was travelling between Leeds/Bradford and Aberdeen airports. The 18-seater plane was reportedly carrying five passengers and three crew on the flight.
A spokesman reportedly stated that the plane had been checked prior to take-off, adding: “On the approach to Aberdeen, at a height of approximately 12,000 feet, the aircraft passed through turbulence. A pod door indication light came on.
“On arrival into Aberdeen, it was discovered that one item of baggage could not be located and after normal checks, we concluded that the item had been lost from the hold.”
