Summer starts as soccer stops
Active Hotels is the latest travel firm to report that its bookings have increased since the end of the World Cup.
The company, which provides confirmed online reservations to independent hotels and guesthouses, says that bookings have increased by 10% since the competition ended on Sunday. In contrast, reservations were down by over 20% when England played Argentina.
Active Hotels chief operating officer said: “The decline in bookings can be blamed on a combination of factors including people taking days off to watch the match, the effects of alcohol and not wanting to book a weekend away in case England was in the final.”
Last week Telewest reported that viewdata traffic had surged following England’s defeat by Brazil in the quarter-finals.
