Sunvil disco duo drive across Europe for charity
Sunvil Holidays MD Chris Wright and the operator’s financial controller Issy Emin took part in a three-day race across five countries in a disco-themed car worth less than £500 – all in the name of charity.
Along with others in the industry, the duo (Wright pictured on the left, Emin on the right) joined The Travel Trade Crusade 2014 to raise money for ABTA LifeLine.
Their journey in the ‘Sunvil Inferno’, complete with a disco ball, will took them through France, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Belgium.
They were in pole position on the last day, but were pipped to the winning post by Holiday Extras.
"It was a very close call at the end – just one point separated us from the winning team," said Wright.
"I think it was a combo of us being a bit slower (so more time driving and less to do the challenges) and, with only two of us in the Sunvil team, less creativity/brain power to think things up – one of us was always driving. Nevertheless, we punched above our weight all the way through and just lost out at the last minute."
One of the highlights, he said, was going up the Aiguille du Midi cable car in Chamonix in France.
The race is expected to raise £20,000 in total.
