Hotelplan UK and the Swiss Hotelplan Group,  including Hotelplan UK specialist tour operators Explore, Inntravel, Inghams, Esprit and Santa’s Lapland became a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism.

The Glasgow Declaration has been officially launched as part of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).

It aims to raise the climate protection ambitions of tourism businesses, taking strong action to support the global commitment to halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero as soon as possible before 2050.

"Travel depends on intact nature and a stable socioeconomic system. We see it as our duty signi the Glasgow Declaration. We want to enhance our customers’ quality of life by creating a stronger focus on sustainability," said Hotelplan Group CEO Laura Meyer said

Hotelplan UK CEO Joe Ponte added: "We are absolutely delighted to be joining this powerful initiative and taking the sustainability credentials of our brands to the next phase. Some of the specialists in our group, such as Explore, are already progressive in this space, having been founding signatories of Tourism Declares A Climate Emergency in early 2020 and actively working on their comprehensive and industry leading Climate Action Plan."

"We will lead in areas of travel yet untouched, and support the pathways outlined in the Glasgow Declaration wholeheartedly".
