Swimming pool bug toll rises to 100
MyTravel says Alcudia Pins cryptosporidium problem is now sorted
MyTravel has confirmed that some 100 guests who stayed at the Alcudia Pins hotel in Majorca have been affected by a severe stomach bug.
The Daily Telegraph reports that 101 people have now been hit by the cryptosporidium bug – up from just 15 last week – which was discovered in the resort’s swimming pool.
The pool was subsequently emptied and disinfected; MyTravel is now stating that the problem has been contained and that the pool is now once again open and that those tourists who travelled while the pool was shut were offered a GBP40 voucher for their pains.
Furthermore, MyTravel went on to point out that of some 2,000 guests who travel to the resort each week, around two thirds had decided to continue with their holiday plans despite the fact there was no pool.
The Telegraph reports that the travel giant is “likely to face a class action for compensation from people struck down by the illness”.
