Sydney Backpackers Expo changes venue.

The 13th annual Adventure Travel & Backpackers Expo has announced a change in venue, with for the first time the event, part of Australia’s only adventure expo series, moving from its traditional home of Sydney’s Town Hall to the Convention and Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour.

CEO, Andrew Paltridge said, “The change has been forced upon us as management at the Town Hall could not guarantee the venue for us due to excavation work and a possible archeological dig about to commence – before a major renovation commences which will run for 12-18 months.”

“We will certainly miss the Town Hall’s charm and CBD location, but to be honest we have outgrown the venue as we cannot add any more stands to the current 160 or so.”

“The Convention Centre will allow us to offer more features such as larger travel
talks rooms and a stage.”

“We are confident that both overseas travelers and the large number of locals who visit the expo every year will find the venue easy to get to and continue to come in large numbers.”

“As approximately 80% of stands already are sold, we will be re-allocating
exhibitors their new stands over the next few weeks,“ said Paltridge.
