Sydney on Sale – The Events Expo

Friday, 18 Jul, 2006 0

More than 5000 event industry representatives attended the trade show, education and networking events at this year’s Sydney on Sale – The Events Expo, held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on July 4 and 5.

The new look Sydney on Sale delivered fresh business for exhibitors, with nearly half of all visitors ranking as first-time attendees.

Significantly, more than three-quarters of visitors were involved in purchasing decisions for their company, and more than half had annual event spends in excess of $100,000.

SCVB Managing Director Jon Hutchison said the decision to outsource the management of the show this year had clearly helped it break new ground in terms of presentation and reach new audiences.

“Without question, the new look and style of this year’s Sydney on Sale was well received and created an excellent platform to deliver some great results to exhibitors.”

Rodney Cox, Director of Exhibitions at ETF, which organised the event on behalf of the SCVB, said the company had great feedback from exhibitors about the show’s new look, especially the innovative welcome foyer with its “illuminated thinking theme and the stylish Meeting Place, a central point for visitors.

“Another key objective for this year’s  Sydney on Sale was the showcasing of new concepts, so we were  excited to see that nearly two-thirds of those surveyed said they discovered new ideas or products at the show,” Mr Cox said.

Concurrent events at Sydney on Sale included the Wow Factor cocktail party which attracted 700 guests, and the Sydney on Sale breakfast and lunch events, which drew more than 300 visitors.  Other events included a media lunch with the Minister for Tourism and Sport and Recreation Sandra Nori as guest speaker.

Sydney on Sale also continued its important role as a source of industry education with around 500 people attending a dozen educational seminars over the two days. In fact 91 per cent of seminar attendees surveyed rated the sessions as good to excellent.

Sydney on Sale – The Events Expo returns in 2007. Further details are available from Sara Donnarumma on 02 8268 4426 or [email protected]
