Taiwan losing its shine as great defender against Covid
Taiwan’s status as the ‘gold standard’ for Covid-19 containment has been dented amid rising infections. Until recently the island state had not had a single local infection for more than 250 days.
Now, cases are on the rise. In only four days, it’s total number of cases since the start of the pandemic has nearly doubled. The first significant cluster was discovered at flag carrier China Airlines with several pilots infected but has spread at an alarming rate to other parts of Taipei and elsewhere.
