Talking trash cans
Next time you are in Berlin and a rubbish bin starts talking to you, it may not be because of the beer … According to a report in The Guardian, authorities in the German city are planning to install loudspeakers in a number of the city’s 20,000 Abfallkasten, which will then enable them to speak or sing to those depositing their rubbish within. A spokesman, Bernd Mueller, reportedly told the newspaper: “We want to encourage people in a nice, funny way to throw their trash in the baskets and not on the street. The trashcans are meant to show that Berlin is a modern city with hi-tech services, and that it is very cosmopolitan.”
