Tasmania promotes new e-opportunities
HOBART – Tourism Tasmania has set out on an eight-day Tas e-Connect road show covering 10 locations around the state as part of a new programme to give Tasmania’s tourism industry the ability to do business online.
Led by Tourism Tasmania’s CEO, Felicia Mariani, and Shane Crockett, managing director of technology provider V³, the road show is offering advice and information to Tasmanian tourism operators on enabling technology to uplift the online potential of their businesses.
Tas e-Connect is designed to inform and equip tourism operators with the latest technology skills and facilitate enhanced understanding of digital tactics for marketing and selling their tourism experiences and products.
“New technologies play a crucial role in ensuring the tourism industry can meet the demands of the online consumer,†Ms Mariani said.
“Tas e-Connect is integral to ensuring Tasmania can compete online as a saleable destination, by creating more opportunities for Tasmanian tourism products and experiences to be purchased online and in real time,†she added.
An additional dedicated Distribution Partnership team has also been established within Tourism Tasmania.
This team will continue to work closely with existing and new distribution partners – “who are and will continue to be a core part of taking Tasmania to the worldâ€.
