Thai covers up plane logo after Bangkok accident
Thai Airways has been ridiculed on social media for blacking out its logo on the side of an aircraft which skidded off the runway in Bangkok, injuring 13 passengers.
Photographs of the Airbus A330-300 resting nose down at the edge of the runway with its logo blacked out grew scorn on Twitter and other online social media forums, turning the damage limitation exercise into a public relations nightmare.
Initial media reports claimed the airline had followed Star Alliance network guidance on emergency management, but Thai Airways has since insisted it acted on its own accord.
Travel journalist Simon Calder wrote on Twitter: "How to turn a minor plane prang into a PR disaster; yes Thai Airways and Star Alliance, that’s you."
Another Tweeter wrote: "Love the way Thai Airlines staff blanked out the ‘plane logo after crash landing. Great sense of priorities."
