Thailand eases visa rules for stranded travellers
The Thai government has finally given stranded foreigners a lifeline.
It is now granting foreign tourists free automatic visa extensions.
All visas that were due to expire on or after March 26 have now been automatically extended to 30 April 2020 without needing to visit an immigration office.
Temporary border pass holders from neighbouring counties who arrived from March 23, 2020 may stay until borders reopen and then have a further seven days to leave.
A curfew is in effect and travel between provinces is restricted across Thailand.
Thailand has recorded nearly 2,500 confirmed cases of covid-19, resulting in 32 deaths.
