Thailand to open a cultural centre in China
Thailand plans to open a cultural centre in China. It would be the first overseas facility of its kind, and comes 16 years after the idea was first proposed.
China is Thailand’s top source market for tourism which it heavily relies on. In 2005, the two countries signed a MOU to set up cultural centres in their respective countries to promote culture and tourism. China opened open a centre a decade ago in Bangkok and now Thailand wants to reciprocate.
Pre-pandemic Thailand welcomed nearly 11 million tourists from China.
