The Mole meets Fergus in Fiji
A South Sea Cruises transfer from Denarau to Castaway is the best ways get from the mainland to heaps of the Mamanuca and Yasawa island reports, but for The Mole it was also a great place to meet Aussies and Kiwis on the way to holidays in Fiji’s stunning islands.
Fergus Davidson is a Sydney anaesthetist who decided that a break at the right price was good idea and having done his research, concluded that Fiji was the place to go!
Fergus wanted a two week break away from it all in an idyllic location with no phones or mobiles and no strews with being an anaesthetist being a pretty stressful occupation.
The great thing that Fergus told The Moel was that he only booked last week and the coup was simply not a factor for him.
Researching on the net Fergus said that the ads in the Sun Herald also told him that there was some great value to be had in Fiji, so rather than use an agent he worked it right though himself calling properties and ultimately choosing Viti Watersports in Fiji, who offered him a great deal on Treasure Island.
Flying Pac Blue, many of his friends raised their eyebrows when he said he was going to Fiji, but he was comfortable that he had done his research, knew what the score was and in reality that the coup was not going to impact on him.
He liked the bure on the water idea for a couple of weeks of real RR and he managed to get 50% off the deal normally available this time of year.
He had also looked that DFAT website and knowing that they were very conservative noted it but did not take a great deal of notice.
He also believed that the coup was a not a Fiji issue but a coup issue and that most travellers to and in Fiji would not be affected in any way.
Having not been to Fiji since he was a child some 30 years ago, he also felt that as Fiji was not war torn Afghanistan and also that he should take a procative stance against travel warnings!Special on location in Fiji report by The Mole
