The perfect survivor: storm watching
Survivors of the recent climatic events that hit the US may not be prime customers but apparently there is a market for winter storm watching.
At least two properties are advertising them. They include:
- The “Winter Storm Watching” package at the Wickaninnish Inn off the west coast of Vancouver Island.
- The “Oh So Cozy” storm watching package at the Long Beach Lodge Resort in British Columbia.
“The team at the Wickaninnish Inn tries to ‘arrange’ at least one storm for every winter guest at the inn because they know the guests…are not hoping for dry, sunny weather,” the hotel says.
The best place to watch the storms: the restaurant, where there’s a view of the Pacific Ocean.
If there’s no storm at the Long Beach Lodge, guests can opt for surfing lessons at $79 per person.
The starting cost for a two-day package at the Wickaninnish is $719, going to $2279 for a canopy suite.
Rates for the Long Beach Lodge’s storm package start at $399 a night.
