Theme parks a final resting place for many Disney fans
The Happiest Place on Earth has also become the final resting place for an increasing number of Disney fans.
The Wall Street Journal reports the ashes of deceased Disney devotees are regularly sprinkled at parks in Orlando and Anaheim, and the company is not happy about it.
It reportedly happens about once every month.
Spreading cremated ashes in a public place without permission is a misdemeanour, and is strongly discouraged by Disney.
"This type of behavior is strictly prohibited and unlawful. Guests who attempt to do so will be escorted off property," a Disney spokesperson told the WSJ.
When ashes are discovered a ‘HEPA cleanup’ is ordered, which relates to the kind of vacuum cleaner used to suck up the ashes.
Before that happens the attraction where it is found is closed off temporarily.
Flower beds and bushes are popular spots to release ashes, as well as the lawns of Magic Kingdom, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and most of all at the Haunted Mansion.
"The Haunted Mansion probably has so much human ashes in it that it’s not even funny," a custodian told the Journal.
