Thomas Cook strengthens retail team
Thomas Cook has restructured its retail team to include the creation of a chief of UK retail and money role.
The new role goes to Anth Mooney, currently chief financial services officer, who assumes additional responsibility.
Thomas Cook said: "He will bring his experience in high-street financial services and innovation to reinvigorate Thomas Cook’s retail estate, and strengthen its offer of travel-focused financial services products."
Mooney will report to chief of UK source market Ingo Burmester. In his group role leading Thomas Cook Money, he will continue to report to CEO Peter Fankhauser.
A new role of commercial director will be filled by Alex Appelmann, who moves from group commercial in Oberursel, Germany, where he has been director of product, planning and portfolio management in a group-wide role.
Phil Gardner joins the UK management team as sales and e-commerce director, adding e-commerce to his existing responsibilities of commercial sales, third -party relations and Freedom Travel Group.
The role also assumes responsibility for Thomas Cook Sport.
The changes are effective from the beginning of Thomas Cook’s financial year on 1 October.
Chief of UK source market, Ingo Burmester said: "Our business has all the right foundations and the right strategy.
"These changes will bring new focus on key elements of our organisation, which will help us build on our great brand to deliver profitable, sustainable growth."
