Thomas Cook to move to new HQ

Tuesday, 05 Aug, 2015 0

Thomas Cook is to move to new headquarters in Peterborough early next year.

It will transfer from its current offices in the Bretton area to West Point House on the Lynch Wood Business Park in April 2016.

Managing director Salman Syed told staff of the move yesterday.

The operator has been at its current site in Bretton, where it employs 1,115 people, since 1996.

Thomas Cook will lease all of West Point House, and the holiday company – together with the landlord Westmount Real Estate – will fully refurbish the building’s office and social areas over the next nine months.

"As one of the largest employers in the city, I am delighted that Thomas Cook UK & Ireland will soon be moving to all-new offices in Peterborough," said Syed.

"We’re really excited by this move to the Lynch Wood Business Park.  We spend many hours at work, and it is essential that we create the right culture and environment to perform to our full potential.

"Unlike our current premises in Bretton, being located in just one building [West Point House] will allow us to further improve our ways of working and achieve our goal of becoming not only the most loved business in Peterborough, but also in travel."

Functions based at the Peterborough HQ include finance, IT, HR as well as the functions supporting its  Thomas Cook and Cooperative Travel stores, and a call centre which employees around 300 people.

In addition to Peterborough, Thomas Cook has smaller UK operational offices and contact centres in Falkirk, Egham and Altrincham.

The company – which owns the campus in Bretton – is currently reviewing its options for that site.
