Thomas Cook TV promotes cut-price mobile calls
Thomas Cook TV has signed a deal to offer a low cost mobile phone service for holidaymakers.
The agreement with SIM4travel enables travellers to reduce the cost of mobile calls while on holiday in more than 110 countries for a one-off charge of £29.95.
Further distribution channels with other travel companies are due to be announced following the Thomas Cook TV tie-up. SIM4Travel marketing director Suk Grewal said: “We developed SIM4Travel in response to the current view that using mobiles abraod is expensive, confusing and frustrating. SIM4Travel is an easy to use card backed by Thomas Cook TV.
“Top-ups can be made from anywhere in the world, users can calculate their savings on the tariff calculator at www.SIM4travel.com and full back- up customer care support is provided 24/7 – by phone, web or IVR (interactive voice response).”
A customer who makes or receives five or six calls a day on a two week holiday in Spain can save £474.95, the company claims.
Currently when travellers take their mobile phones abroad they ‘roam’ on to a foreign network, SIM4travel bypasses this need and saves the customer up to £1.80 per minute and up to 80% on texts to the UK.
Mr Grewal said: “There is a lot of mistrust in the mobile industry – our clear proposition aims to dispense with all the confusion and offer an easy to understand and to sell mobile travel SIM card.”
Helen Smith, head of Thomas Cook TV, said: “Thomas Cook TV takes the nasty surprises out of holidays as it shows exactly what a resort or hotel is like. SIM4travel does the same for mobile phone bills. We’ve all had a shock on returning from holiday and seeing how much calls have cost us – we wanted to help our customers avoid that.”
