Thomson assesses hurricane damage in Cuba
Thomson is assessing the hurricane damage in Cuba before it decides whether to restart flights to some resorts.
The next scheduled flight to Varadero is on September 28.
"Our team in Cuba is currently assessing the impact of Hurricane Irma in Varadero and is working closely with hotel partners to ensure we are able to deliver the holiday experience our customers expect," said a spokeswoman.
"We hope to update those due to travel on Thursday 28th September in the coming days."
Meanwhile all flights from Manchester to Cayo Santa Maria, which was badly hit by the hurricane, have been cancelled until November 14.
A Thomson statement said all customers who were in Cuba when Hurricane Irma have arrived home safely.
Many had been evacuated from Cayo Santa Maria to Varadero ahead of the hurricane’s arrival.
Thomson holidaymakers in Orlando have also been brought home.
Meanwhile Thomas Cook said it was bringing the last of its customers home from Cuba today (Friday), except for one couple who are in hospital with medical conditions unrelated to the hurricane.
It has operated three special evacuation flights from Varadero and four from Orlando. One further flight was delayed in Orlando due to a technical fault and the operator said it is working to resolve this.
Nearly 70 special assistance staff are in Cuba and Florida assisting holidaymakers.
Due to extensive damage in the Cayos, Cuba, customers booked to travel to Cayo Coco or Cayo Guillermo are being offered free cancellations or amendements up to and including October 31.
