Thorpe Park introduces OAP discount
Thorpe Park Resort claims to have become the first in the UK to introduce a discount pass for pensioners.
Old Aged Coaster (OAC) Day Passes have today gone on sale after the theme park saw an increase of 4% in year on year visitors aged 65 and over during the 2015/16 season.
The over 65s OAC Day Pass comes after 87% of 1,000 pensioners surveyed believe there is no reason why they should not be able to enjoy theme parks.
But 26% say they have felt discriminated against due to their age when taking part in leisure activities.
Marketing director James Walker said: "We’ve always encouraged visitors of all ages to experience what our theme park has to offer and it’s brilliant to see so many over 65’s enjoying the theme park experience.
"We’ve introduced the OAC pass to celebrate our increasing number of older visitors and to encourage the whole family, from grandparent to grandchild to come and visit Thorpe Park Resort."
The OAC passes will be available from today until November 2 but are not available online.
The passes give a 50% discount based on the walk-up adult cost of £51.50 per person.
