Thousands of passengers hit as SAS pilots start three-day strike
Scandinavian airline SAS has been forced to ground 70% of its flights today, disrupting the travel plans of at least 70,000 passengers.
The airline said it had cancelled more than 670 flights after pilots walked out at the start of a three-day strike. The industrial action has hit domestic, European and long-haul routes.
The strike will continue on Saturday and Sunday, potentially disrupting up to 170,000 passengers in total.
Pilots are striking over pay and ‘other issues’, according to labour unions.
Flights operated by SAS Ireland and airlines that are subcontractors of SAS are not affected.
