Three ATOL-holders collapse
Three ATOL travel companies have folded in the past week, the Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed.
Belfast-based travel agency Chaka Travel, which also traded under the names golfholidaysinsouthafrica.com and mauritiushoneymoons.com collapsed on Friday. HNH Group have been appointed as administrators.
The CAA said flights might still be valid, or passengers have the option to claim a refund from the Air Travel Trust.
London-based flights specialist WestEast Travel also ceased trading on March 13. As most bookings were for seat-only, they were not ATOL protected, said the CAA, so passengers are advised to contact their airlines.
Disabled travel specialist tour operator Can Be Done ceased trading on March 12.The CAA advised travel agents holding money from bookings to wait for instructions from the Air Travel Trust Fund. Agents will be individually contacted with specific instructions.
They are the first ATOL failures since the collapse of London-based Old Havana in late November.
