Three Australians awarded Mastercard scholarships
SYDNEY – Three Australians are among this year’s 20 MasterCard- U21Global Scholarship recipients
Now in its fourth year, the MasterCard-U21Global scholarship programme offers scholarships for female travel and tourism executives, providing them with a global platform for career advancement in management and marketing.
The programme awards 20 scholarships annually for a Postgraduate Diploma of Business Administration from U21Global, the online graduate school.
The Australian women awarded the scholarships are among 20 recipients from Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa. They are:
Kate Stewart, human resources manager, Canberra Intercontinental Hotels Group
Monique Curry, revenue manager, Crowne Plaza, Parramatta
Kate Gerits, front office manager / revenue manager, Crowne Plaza Newcastle.
Edmund D’Cruz, managing director, U21Global Australia & New Zealand, believes the programme is an important way to share knowledge on an international scale and accelerate the creation of industry networks across the globe.
“It’s an effective way to develop skills and at the same time provide global industry exposure irregardless of where you are based,†he said.
Core subjects include organisational behavior, finance, marketing management and strategic management, as well as tourism-specific subjects like service quality in Travel and Tourism and understanding the tourism consumer.
