Thrills and spills in Ohio
United States: Theme park will boast 400-foot drop at 120 miles per hour
The largest and fastest rollercoaster in the world will be completed this year in a theme park in Ohio. The Top Thrill Dragster ride, in Cedar Point Park, will include a massive 400-foot drop, during which the coaster will reach speeds of 120 miles per hour. Cedar Point boasts 15 such rides and is no doubt justified in calling itself the “rollercoaster capital of the world”. According to The Times, the ride “rockets its customers 240 feet into the air then turns them through 90 degrees until it reaches its full height of 420 feet. The 16-passenger cars then “face directly to the ground as they fall 400 feet, twisting 270 degrees before finishing the ride”.
