Tiger to operate daytime Melbourne-Perth services
Tiger Airways will launch its winter season in April with 20 percent more flights than the same time last year.
The new schedule will include the addition of two new routes with daily services between Sydney and Sunshine Coast commencing from March 27 and a new Sydney – Brisbane route launching on February 7 with three daily return services.
Tiger is adding an additional daily daytime service between Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Perth. Currently Tiger has six weekly services between Melbourne (Avalon Airport) and Perth and daily return evening services between Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) and Perth.
The new schedule means a total of 20 weekly services between Melbourne and Perth, up from 13 services currently.
Singapore-based Tiger is adding an 11th aircraft to its fleet in April. It deferred the plane’s arrival following the Queensland floods that are expected to have an adverse effect on its Australian subsidiary’s fourth-quarter earnings.
Despite the Australian setback, the parent company posted a 60 percent increase in net profit to nearly $18m for the December quarter.
