Tiny town in big-thinking state has new meeting venue

It’s the third oldest town in Texas, and a small city in a place that generally thinks big but it has one of the state’s newest resorts.

It’s in Montgomery, Texas, city population 489, just an hour south of Houston and 45 minutes from the George Bush Intercontinental Airport.

"La Toretta Resort & Spa combines authentic Texas charm with a lakeside setting, family fun, international elegance and management by Noble House Hotels & Resorts," says Meetings Focus South.

The property has 445 suites with such amenities as 42-inch flat-screen TVs and complimentary wireless internet access.

Outside meeting attractions include a 3.5-acre water park complex with multilevel pools as well as fitness and tennis centers.

It has more than 73,000 square feet of meeting space with 19 meeting rooms. There’s also a variety of group activities and a 17,000-square-foot spa Terre with 20 treatment areas.

A state-of-the-art golf course is another option.

And casual dining on site ranges from buffalo wings and hot dogs to a new restaurant where Michelin-starred chef Matthew Gray presents gourmet fare.
