Tiscover sees increase in online visits
Tourism portal Tiscover claims that visits to its portfolio of destination websites increased by 24% during the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2001.
Individual visits increased from 25million to 31million, while page views rose by 25% to 120m compared to the same six month period last year.
Meanwhile Tiscover is pressing ahead with its privatisation plans as part of its ambition to expand in Europe. It follows the announcement that the Tirol tourist board Tirol Werbung is to sell its 91% stake in the company.
Tiscover chief international business officer Chief international business officer Karsten Kärcher (right) said: “Tirol Werbung has been essential to our early success and we could not have asked for a better partner. But we all agree that Tiscover needs complete commercial freedom as it continues to enjoy rapid growth and accelerates its reach in Europe.”
Tiscover claims to be the leading tourism portal in Austria, Germany and Switzerland, where its customers include the Austrian and Bavarian tourist boards. In March 2002, the company launched Tiscover2002, which enables tourism providers to distribute across multiple channels and through Tiscover’s main website.
