TMC improves rail offering with TheTrainline

Travel management company Click Travel has integrated TheTrainline’s ticket booking system into its website.

By using Trainline Connect, the rail retailer’s API, Click Travel has fully integrated rail content into its own online self-booking tool.

The arrangement also gives the agency, which manages business travel for more than 100 corporates including Café Nero, Thorntons and international catering provider Elior, access to a range of fulfilment options including ‘Ticket on Departure’ and on-site printing capability.

The modern interface technology provides Click Travel with detailed management information reporting, a choice of payment facilities and clear ticketing options that allow the cheapest fare to be selected, according to the two organisations.

Click Travel managing director Simon McLean said: “For too long many travel management companies have neglected their rail offering, citing difficulties with the search and booking process. By integrating TheTrainline content into our online platform we are adding yet more flexibility and choice for our customers.

“Set against a turbulent economic outlook for British businesses, the need to rationalise business travel and manage costs has never been more important.

“By integrating Trainline Connect’s modern interface with our own technology we are enabling our clients to do exactly that.”

Adrian Watts, sales and distribution director for TheTrainline, said: “Click Travel’s migration to TheTrainline highlights how we are continuing to grow our business in the online travel management market.

“It demonstrates that TMCs are attracted to the TheTrainline because of the efficient service we provide, and are not just moving their business in light of the demise of Elgar.”
