Tokyo Disney Resort extends closure until May
Disney’s Tokyo theme parks have extended their closure until mid-May after Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe declared a state of emergency.
Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea had originally planned to reopen on April 20, and have been closed since late February.
Four resort hotels will also remain closed.
The state of emergency is in effect until May 6, and covers Tokyo as well as six other prefectures.
"We remain in close contact with related government agencies about the situation and will provide updates as the situation changes," said Oriental Land Co, which operates the Tokyo Disney Resort.
No definite date has been announced yet for the grand opening of the newly developed themed area at Tokyo Disneyland.
