Toronto reports record tourism figures
Toronto has surpassed the four million international visitor figure number for the first time, with the UK a key market.
The city saw an increase in tourism for the sixth consecutive year in 2015, welcoming a record 14.03 million overnight visitors.
UK visitor numbers to Toronto were up 10% last year, at 237,000, making Britain the third biggest source market, behind the US and China.
The total number of overseas travellers was 1.75 million. In total they spent $1.49 billion.
Tourism Toronto president and CEO Johanne Bélanger said: "Every day there are 110,000 visitors in our destination – 38,000 of them staying in a hotel.
"On average there are 6,800 American travelers and a further 4,800 visitors from other countries in Toronto every single day, and that speaks to the growing appeal of Toronto on a global scale."
