Thai tour bus operators to get THB5m subsidy
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is giving tour bus operators THB5 million to help boost domestic tourism.
Chamnan Srisawat, president of the Tourism Council of Thailand, said operators will be given a subsidy of THB10,000 per bus from the TAT.
It is hoped the subsidy will stimulate domestic journeys.
The TAT will also subsidise salaries of guides and drivers for tour bus packages of two days or longer.
This will allow operators to expand their tour product, Chamnan said.
“The tourism private sector believes this is one of the projects that will stimulate domestic travel,” he said.
About 500 tour buses will qualify for the THB10,000 subsidy, says Association of Domestic Travel (ADT) president Chaiyapruk Thongkam.
