Tour de Nez to showcase Nevada

Saturday, 12 Apr, 2013 0

The Tour de Nez will embark on its 21st year of cycling celebration, with circuits, criteriums and festivities across northern Nevada from July 25-28.

The cycling race is now known as the Tour de Nez-Vada (www.tourdenez.com) after a new partnership with the Nevada Commission on Tourism.

For professional cyclists, northern Nevada’s diverse and challenging terrain will make for a technical four-day stage race, with steep climbs and descents, and an elevation of nearly 10,000 feet.

It will also be a destination for Para-cyclists on the U.S. Handcycling Series circuit (www.ushf.org), and host several criteriums and circuit races for both men and women.

Races for kids, plus a chance to ride with the pros, will entertain spectators and participants.

A bike swap, exhibition, live music, parties and a Wild West ho-down will round out the event.

While keeping the TdnV at home in Reno on one day, rides and festivities will take place in new venues this year, including South Lake Tahoe, Virginia City and Nevada’s state capital, Carson City.
